I'd be willing to bet that if ANYBODY who hasn't repaired their multi-function switch connector recently were to go out and look at theirs, it would be somewhat (or totally) melted. I checked half of the 2nd gens sitting outside (all future derby cars) and they are melted. Not a single one has any aftermarket fogs/headlights on them, just boring SXT's. So this problem becomes even worse with higher wattage bulbs.

Step 1 is replacing the connector before the multi-function switch itself starts to melt, fuses start blowing for lights, lights work randomly, or worse, a fire in the dash.

Our kit comes with factory-colored AND factory-sized wires for all 17 wires used. A few colors are a bit off (light green on pink wire looks gray but oh well). Not all wires will be needed, in fact most shouldn't unless yours is severely melted and the terminals/wires have been compromised. The one pictured would have been caught in time to not need to cut a single wire had the car not been wrecked of course.

They are really easy to take apart, especially if they are like the one I had, which basically disintegrated. A small screwdriver or pick is needed to take them apart.

First, the black TPA (terminal position assurance) piece in the front comes off. Pry up on the sides to get it past the locks. Will probably break in half and fall off. Then pull the terminals out. A little latch will be accessible once the TPA is out of the way. Pry up on the latch and pull terminal out. Doing it one at a time works best to keep confusion down. Insert them into new housing.

Then once they are all seated, install the new TPA. It's a tight fit and all terminals need to be in their correct spot so it fits between the little latches. It's purpose is to keep the latches from moving so the terminals don't fall out, and it can't go in unless they are all in the right spot.

Any damaged/melted wires or terminals will need to be spliced, just match up the proper wire and splice it, then insert into the housing like above and it'll look factory.
